I am a retired Family Nurse Practitioner having worked for 36 years delivering primary care services at the King County Jail for 13 years, and then 23 years at Harborview Medical Center, our safety net medical center in Seattle, where I cared for a wide variety of patients from the entire spectrum of racial, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.  I have been a strong supporter of single payer health care since the early 1970s when Ron Dellums proposed his National Health Service bill. I am a strong supporter of the ideal that health care is a human right devoid of the pressures of our current profit-driven health care environment.
